Peggy Paulette (Puckett) Shumway

Peggy was born to Bonnie & Anne “Teen” Puckett on May 25, 1945 in Prineville, Oregon as one of eight children. She graduated from Crook County High School, and married Carl Shumway that same year in 1963. She and Carl went on to have three sons and have been married for 60 years.

Peggy worked at Coin Millworks in Prineville, she managed Carl’s Paint  & Plywood Retail store for four years, she worked at Joyce’s Dress shop, and managed the Christmas Valley Lodge Restaurant and Lounge for four and a half years. She was a gifted artist and spent thousands of hours throughout her life with the love to sew, paint, refinish furniture and create many hand-made items for her business called “Peggy’s Kreations.” She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and kept busy with various other hobbies and interests.

Family meant everything to Peggy, and family always came first. Her sons and grandchildren were her world. She was always baking cookies, pies and cakes for them and giving them little gifts she had picked up here and there for them that she always wrapped with multi-colored bows.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bonnie & Teen Puckett, two sons, Russell Frank Shumway and  Wayne Elwyn Shumway, her sisters, Susan “Suzy” Munsey,  Bonnie Ann Puckett,  and Deborah Joy Puckett.

Survivors include her husband Carl Shumway of Christmas Valley, her son Dale Shumway and wife Shara of Christmas Valley; three grandsons, Vincent Shumway and wife Matteline, Nikkilas Shumway, and Michael Shumway, all of Christmas Valley; brothers, Rolla “Jim” Puckett and Jerry Puckett, both of Prineville, Oregon, Timothy Puckett of Christmas Valley, and sisters Ginger Wood of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Elizabeth Griffin-Hall of Port Orchard, Washington, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on March 9th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Prineville Nazarene Church at 780 E. 1st Street, Prineville, Oregon.
