Marilyn Thompson Obituary

Marilyn Carol (Mack) Thompson 82 passed away February 28 2024.  She passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Marilyn was born November 24, 1941 in Oregon City, Oregon to Ashel Darrel Mack and Viola Olive (Lent) Mack. She attended school in Canby Oregon until she graduated from Canby Union High School in 1959. She attended Linfield College for two years, Portland State for two years, and Eastern Oregon State College for one year.  She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1964.  After graduation she taught for 7 years.  She taught in Glide, Oregon and Bakersfield, California.

 

On August 23, 1969 she married Mickey Ebb Thompson at Canby United Methodist Church. After the wedding they went to live in Bakersfield, California.  On September 24, 1971 the first daughter Marci Ann Thompson (Stewart). Two years later they moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico.  On January 30, 1975 their daughter Rebecca Lynn Thompson (Case) was born. Mickey and Marilyn moved to Prineville, Oregon in February 1976. On September 27, 1979 their daughter Laura Louise Thompson (Fladung) was born.  On July 24, 1980 their daughter Heather Leann Thompson was born sadly she did not survive the birth.

 

Throughout her life Marilyn taught Sunday School at Prineville Community Church. She led Campfire groups for all her children and later her granddaughter.  She did various other volunteer activities. After her youngest daughter started school she got certified to be a substitute teacher.

 

She is proceeded in death by her parents Ashel and Viola Mack, her brother Ronald Mack, her sister Sarah Sue Calvache and her daughter Heather Leann Thompson.  She is survived by her husband Mickey Thompson, her three children Marci, Rebecca, and Laura and her six grandchildren Tanner, Sarah, Mickailyn, Kellen, Mckinley, and Braxton.
